Mullen Book Club’s next book pick

The Mullen Book Club will be discussing “And The Mountains Echoed” by Khaled Hosseini next. They will meet Wednesday, Aug. 18 (they meet the third Wednesday of every month) at 6:00 p.m. at the library - outside if the weather cooperates, in the basement if not.

NDE releases second draft of Health Education Standards

The Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) released the second draft of the Nebraska Health Education Standards and is seeking input from the public. The information collected will be used as part of the standards review and revision process.

Kenny Bader enjoyed participating in the Hooker Motor Club Rumble in the Hills Auto Show at the Fairgrounds Thursday. Sharilyn Bader met her brother Rick Hatheway from Pierre, South Dakota, at Mission, South Dakota, Friday and had a good visit.

Bob Marsh went to Kearney Tuesday. Peggy attended the Republican Party area meeting at the Village Meeting Room Tuesday. Bob and Peggy Marsh attended the Days of ‘76 Rodeo at Deadwood, South Dakota, Wednesday night. They also got to see one of the parades.

Dear Editor, I would like to thank you for the $100 I won in the Poker Run. This is the first year I did the Shop Local Poker Run and figured I do shop local in Mullen, so why not try this. It was fun drawing cards at different businesses.
