Marjorie Pearson

Marjorie Pearson, age 85, of Mullen passed away July 1, 2024, at her home in Mullen, Nebraska.

Funeral services were held July 5, 2024, at the Methodist Church in Mullen with Rev.

Juzenas officiating. Burial was in the Cedarview Cemetery at Mullen.

Marjorie Ann Reigle was born Aug. 11, 1938, to Ray and Myrtle (Shefneer) Reigle on Calf Creek in Cherry County north of Mullen. She was joined by her sister, Doris, in August of 1940.

Marjorie started school going to a country school north of Mullen, and later attended and graduated from Mullen High School in 1956. Marjorie married Donald (Dutch) Pearson on Dec. 21, 1957. To this union, four children were born: Julie, Linda, Donnie and Susan.

After graduating from high school, Marjorie attended a teacher’s college in Kearney.

She then taught in Cherry County School District for 2 years in a mobile school.

Following this, she took some time off to raise her kids. In 1965, she began working as a receptionist at the Mullen Clinic where she worked with many doctors for 15 years.

Following her time at the Clinic, Marjorie began working at Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home in 1994. Here she served in many capacities including a CNA, Activities Director and Medical Record Coordinator.

Marjorie worked here until her retirement.

Marjorie was very involved in the Mullen community. She was secretary of the Alumni Association, active in the Retired Teachers Association, taught Sunday school, enjoyed the Red Hat Society and was an avid bowler. While serving as secretary for the Alumni Association, Marjorie was a part of a lot of change and growth.

She was an integral part of creating the Alumni newspaper and the alumni yearbook that is still enjoyed today.

After losing their son, Donnie, in 1983, Marjorie and Donald joined Compassionate Friends as a part of their healing and to help other parents cope with grief. More than anything, Marjorie enjoyed supporting and being a part of the lives of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marjorie is survived by her three daughters, Julie (Mitch) Pfeiffer, Linda (Doug) Boyer, Susan (Phil) Hoyt; grandchildren, Nikki (Tyler) Gracey, Traci (Brad) McCully, Jeri (Jake) Graff, Scott (Megan) Pfeiffer, Brett (Jessica) Boyer, Dessa (Miles) Cooksley, Darci (Brandon) Holling, Jacob (Kayla) Hoyt, and Caleb (Nicole) Hoyt; great-grandchildren, Haley (Matthew) Furrow, Brady, Chase, Abigail and Eleah Gracey, Brittni (JT) Bradley, Brooke and Brynne McCully, Ava and Elsie Graff, Andi, Thomas and JJ Pfeiffer, Jepson Boyer, Connor, Carson, Mason, Maddox, Cora and Mila Cooksley, Emersyn, Eden and Lincoln Holling, Monty Hoyt, and Sutton Hoyt; great-great-grandchild, John Tyler Furrow, and brother-inlaw, Dean Marshall.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents Ray and Myrtle Reigle, parents-in-law Fritz and Myrtle Pearson, husband Donald Pearson Sr., son Donnie Pearson, and sister and brother-in-law Doris and Mel Uphoff.
