Michael Leroy Russell, age 80, of Coleridge, Nebraska, died peacefully on Aug. 31, 2024, at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, South Dakota.
Mike’s family was his legacy. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Patricia Russell, married Nov. 23, 1994, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Coleridge. His pride, his three children; daughter Tammy (and Timothy) Jones, son Patrick (and ReDonna) Russell, and daughter Amanda Russell. His two stepsons; Craig Hively and Travis (and Bridget) Hively. His greatest joy was his 11 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, and 11 greatgrandchildren.
Mike was born in North Platte, Nebraska, on Oct. 22, 1943. He is survived by brother, Steven (and Starla) Russell, and sister, Sharron (Russell) (and Tim) Pint.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Shirley (Dilley) and Joseph Russell.
A celebration of life gathering will be held on Sept. 14, 2024, beginning at 1 p.m. CT in Council Bluffs, Iowa, at the home of Tammy and Timothy Jones. To accommodate the far-reaching friendships that Mike amassed throughout his life’s work and passions, a legacy for life celebration will be held Aug. 3, 2025, at Mike and Patricia’s home in Coleridge.
