Robert Bain

Robert Lee Bain sadly passed away on March 24, 2025, at the age of 81. He was born at Sandhills General Hospital in Valentine, Nebraska, on July 10, 1943, to Clifferd (Bounce) and Irene (Hammond) Bain.

Bob attended school in Bassett, Nebraska, and graduated in 1962. He entered the Army on March 18, 1965, and was honorably discharged on March 1, 1967.

On a blind date in the fall of 1967, he met Bonnie Jones and they were married on April 6, 1968. To this union they were blessed with three children: Michelle, Sharmin and Cody.

They made their home in Curtis, Nebraska, from 1970 until his passing.

Bob was part of the Frontier County Fair Board from 1973 until 2000.

Bob was a brand inspector with the Nebraska Brand Committee for 50 years until he retired. After retiring, he went back to work for the brand committee part-time for another six years. He was a hard worker and had an eye for cattle and brands.

He was not a man of many words and had a dry sense of humor. Bob loved hunting and shooting at targets. He taught his kids how to drive, how to ride horses and how to milk cows.

He left behind his daughter Michelle Brestel (Doug) of Callaway, Neb.; daughter Sharmin Gonzales (Joe) of Kearney, Neb.; son Cody Bain of Dunlap, Iowa; grandchildren Jake (Megan) Gonzales; Jaide (Jessie) Adams; Denton Votaw; Cole (Terri) Gonzales; Haylee (Zak) Johnson; Mia Bain; Alex Brestel; Dylan Oviatt; Brady Brestel; Tyra Brestel; Levi Bain; six great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons. His sister Connie Bussinger; brotherin- laws Ronald (Jean) Jones, Donald Jones, Dan Gibson and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie just three months ago, his parents, his father and mother-in-law Vilas and Neva Jones, brother-inlaw Steve Bussinger, nephew Erich Bussinger, sister-in-law Jeannie Gibson and greatgranddaughter Ashlynn

Gonzales.

A funeral service was held April 7, 2025, at Curtis Methodist Church in Curtis, Nebraska.

Burial followed at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell.
