Casey Henderson, 58 years old, passed away peacefully in her home on the ranch the evening of July 4, 2025.
Casey was born in Alliance, Nebraska, to Larry and Carolynn Henderson on Aug. 27, 1966.
She spent her life growing up in the Sandhills of Nebraska on the Henderson family ranch north of Whitman, Nebraska. Casey, and her brother Mike spent their childhood living the ranch kid dream, even hazing for her brother in Colorado Springs at the Little Britches Finals in 1984.
Casey graduated from Hyannis High School in 1984.
She attended Northeastern Junior College, Sterling, Colorado, where she was on the Livestock Judging Team, and the NJC Rodeo Team, graduating with an Associate in Applied Science. Casey was a standout on the rodeo and judging team. She was also considered to be one of the best in the country, with many individual awards, and two team wins in Denver and Fort Worth while she was on the judging team. After a brief time living in California, she furthered her education at the University of Wyoming, where she was on the UW Rodeo Team, graduating with a Bachelor of Science.
Aside from her education, Casey excelled in the goat tying and breakaway roping, as she was the Rocky Mountain Region Goat Tying Champion and qualified for the College National Finals. This led to a lifetime love of the sport.
Casey then shared her knowledge and taught not only her daughter, but several others.
Casey was a woman of many talents. Over her lifetime she was an EMT, youth coach, Girl Scout leader, teacher, brand inspector and rancher. Her Uncle Gene always said she was the best hay crew he ever had.
On Dec. 31, 2003, Casey’s daughter Ashlyn was born.
Casey’s life was never to be the same. She became the mom that taught, guided, encouraged, but most of all loved. She cheered so loud that Ashlyn never knew who wasn’t cheering. Casey’s favorite job was being a mom.
Casey could be described as independent, courageous, hardworking, grateful, capable, bossy, knowledgeable, caring and having a desire to always learn. Casey was a person that marched to the beat of her own drum.
Her yes was yes, and her no was no. It could be said that she was stubborn, but we like to say she was determined.
Casey had the best support system a girl could ask for. From people that came and supported her benefit, to bringing meals, and thinking of us. We are truly thankful for the great people in our community.
Casey is preceded in death by her father Larry, granddads Floyd Henderson and Weldon Crumroy, grandmothers Rosella (Grouns) Henderson and Georgia (Schufeldt) Crumroy Jay, uncles Gene Davis, Jack Zickefoose and Dick Peters and aunts Judy (Crumroy) Powles, Kay (Powles) Zickefoose and Sharon (Henderson) Peters.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Ashlyn Henderson and friend Tevin Cowan, mother Carolynn (Crumroy) Henderson, brother Mike (TeeJay) Henderson, nephew Logan Henderson, niece Erica Henderson, uncle Jerry Olson and aunts Marilynn Olson and Jeanne Davis.
