Marty Boyer

Marty Mae Boyer passed away on March 29, 2022, at the Pioneer Memorial Rest Home in Mullen, Nebraska. She was 95 years young.

Marty was born to Carrie (Tillson) and Orville Conner on Jan. 20, 1927. She was 1 of 10 children; she and her sister were the two youngest.

Marty graduated from high school in 1944 from Gordon, Nebraska, and began teaching.

In 1946 she married Fred Boyer and to this union a daughter, Tonya was born.

In 1975 she completed her Bachelor of Science in Education at Chadron State College. Marty taught school for 20 years in rural Cherry, Grant and Sheridan counties.

In 1983 Fred and Marty moved to Mullen, where she was active in Retired Teachers, Historical Society, Blood Drive and the Hooker County Library.

Marty will be remembered for her spunk and witty sense of humor.

She is survived by her daughter, Tonya, granddaughters Danell Vietzke, Jaylene Eilenstine (Matt), greatgrandchildren Tommy, Reese and Ethan, the Tom Prentice family, the Pioneer Memorial Nursing Home family, and several nieces and nephews.

Marty was preceded in death by her husband Fred Boyer, her special friend Tom Prentice and nine brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be Saturday, April 9, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Mullen with Sherron Sullivan officiating. Inurnment will be in the Cedarview Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Mullen Ambulance, Hooker County Library Memorial Garden or the Mullen United Methodist Church.
