Mullen High School students competed in the Chadron State Scholastics Contest on Oct. 25, placing second behind Rock County High School in Division IV.

State Board of Education update

by Elizabeth Tegtmeier, Nebraska State Board of Education Representative, District 7 The September and October State Board of Education meetings were held in Aurora and Gering, respectively. Panhandle residents and school officials have expressed gratitude that we held a meeting in western Nebraska.

The Mullen High School National Honor Society members visited the Mullen Elementary classrooms on Oct. 26 for Red Ribbon Week. The students were invited to wear red that day. The Red Ribbon Campaign is the largest drug-abuse prevention campaign in the United States.

The Mullen Elementary and Middle and High School HAL (High Ability Learner) students went on their fall trips last month. Both groups got a deeper look into agriculture equipment. The elementary students traveled north of Burwell to Rowse Rakes on Oct. 17, while the middle school and high school students traveled to Grand Island to the CASE IH plant on Oct. 30. Brett Mauler

FCCLA District Leadership Conference held

Twenty-three Mullen FCCLA members attended the District 10 Leadership Conference at North Platte Community College on Wednesday, Oct. 25. They learned about differ- in areas including poster design, creed interpretation, knowledge bowl, infomercial and bucket design.

October Pizza with the Principal at the elementary

Pizza with the Principal is a reward for six Mullen Elementary School students, featuring one student from each grade level. This is the elementary school’s version of Student of the Month.  Each grade level will have one award winner each month.
