From the Superintendent’s Desk: 4 day school week?

by Chris Kuncl, MPS Superintendent As the 2023-2024 school year is off to a fast and furious start, it is hard to believe that we are already a month into the school year. Time is flying, academics and activities are off to a great start!

Congratulations to the Mullen High School Homecoming Court. This year’s Homecoming theme is “Disco Fever.” Mullen High School invites the community to participate in the Homecoming parade and pep rally on Friday, Sept. 29. The parade will begin at the high school starting at 1:00 p.m.

MHS Homecoming is Friday, Sept. 29

Mullen High School invites the community to participate in the Homecoming parade and pep rally on Friday, Sept. 29. The parade will begin at the high school starting at 1:00 p.m. on Friday and end downtown by the Hooker County Courthouse. The pep rally will begin immediately after the parade.

When the Mullen High School football team kicked off their season this year, the new concession stand and bathrooms for the field also made its official debut after years of planning and work.

Seals of Biliteracy earned at MHS

The Nebraska Department of Education and the Nebraska International Language Association have awarded 101 Seals of Biliteracy to 71 Nebraska students this semester. Besides Spanish, the seals are awarded for students in Chinese, French, Korean and Tamil.

Mullen TeamMates kicked off another year with a BBQ supper on Monday, Aug. 21. Mentors and mentees were then combined onto relay teams to see which team could fill a bucket of water the fastest by passing cups of water to the person behind them over their head without looking back.

Four new teachers begin year at MPS

This week as the new school year begins at Mullen Public Schools, there are four new teachers - three of them teaching students from both schools. Newest to the area is Bo Cribelli, the K-12 PE and middle school math teacher.
