The 1st grade students enjoyed listening to a nutritional presentation by Shaniya Albertus from the Extension Office on Friday, Sept. 29. They listened to a story, discussed healthy foods, recognized the different food groups, and completed a class meal.

Second graders study koa trees and seed structures

The second grade students recently investigated the mystery of the koa tree, a type of tree that grows in only two places - islands halfway across the world from one another. Students then developed three different physical models of seed structures.

September Pizza with the Principal at the elementary

Pizza with the Principal is a reward for six Mullen Elementary School students, featuring one student from each grade level. This is the elementary school’s version of Student of the Month.  Each grade level will have one award winner each month.

Chase Gracey is Student of the Month

senior Chase T. Gracey, a senior at Mullen, is the son of Tyler and Nikki Gracey. Chase was selected during the MPS monthly staff member meeting as the Student of the Month based on his hard work, dedication and attitude. He participates in football, wrestling and track for sports.

The 2nd grade students recently investigated which kinds of birds are likely to visit a bird feeder based on what they eat. Students then drew their own bird feeder design to attract a specific type of bird before building a prototype of their bird feeder using available materials.

Child Find Screenings available through ESU #16

Local school districts in cooperation with ESU #16 are sponsoring an opportunity for parents of preschool children to participate in Child Find Screenings. This fall screening will be made available in each school district at the request of parents.
