Women’s League June 10th was a women’s scramble. Low gross score was Shauna Donohoe, Lacie Hanks and Jennifer Peters with 40.Flag prize winners were Samantha Janda with the longest putt on #4 and Tara Call with closest to the pin from tee shot on #6.

Chadron State College senior Brooke McCully of Mullen placed third in the final go-round of breakaway roping at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming, on Saturday night, June 21, and was eighth in the final standings among the 61 cowgirls who qualified for the event.

Three weeks ago, I was able to participate in the West Nebraska All-Star Football Game in Scottsbluff. It was an amazing experience, and I would highly recommend the younger classmen to attend an All-Star game if given the opportunity.The camp started at 10 a.m.on Wednesday, June 4.

Zach Call retires from bullfighting

Editor’s note: Zach Call is a 2011 graduate of Mullen High School.North Platte – It’s the last rodeo for bullfighter Zach Call.The Seneca, Nebraska, native retired from professional bullfighting after the Buffalo Bill Rodeo in North Platte June 18-21.

Held at the Hawks Championship Center, the Husker football team’s indoor practice facility, Matt Rhule Football Camps were held for grades 3-6, 7-8 and 9-Jr. College. Locals compete at high school rodeo state finals

by Gerri Peterson Mullen High School’s Nebraska High School Rodeo Association competitors wrapped up their seasons last week at state finals in Valentine June 12-14.Sophomore Cooper Walker didn’t have the finals he was hoping for, competing in the bareback and saddle bronc, with no scores.

DeNaeyer to compete in North Platte

North Platte – When Tanner Drueke was a little boy, he rummaged through his dad’s old rodeo gear bag, finding the remnants of Bart Drueke’s bull riding career.And that was just more fuel for the Sutherland man’s love of rodeo.
The pictured Mullen students competed at various meets this spring to qualify for the Nebraska Youth Track & Field Championship Meet held in Hastings on Saturday, June 7. Several of the young Broncos not only placed at the meet, but were also state champions!
