Josey French competes at National NJCAA track meet

After three days of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Hutchinson, Kansas, Iowa Western Women’s Track & Field finished at the top of the standings, winning the program’s first outdoor national championship.

Girls on the Run finish season with 5K Glow Run

Girls on the Run 2022 wrapped up May 13th after meeting twice weekly after school for 10 weeks. Eleven girls in 3rd-6th grades participated this year.

Jennings, DeNaeyer racking up high school rodeo points

The Nebraska High School Rodeo season is in full swing. Mullen High School senior Spencer DeNayer has been competing in bareback riding and junior Whitney Jennings has been competing in girls cutting, breakaway, barrels and poles.

Mullen Broncos to play in all-star basketball games

Mullen High School seniors will be playing in various all-star basketball games this summer. Here is the schedule: The 28th Annual Panhandle Prep Sports Magazine All-Star Game will be held Friday, May 27 at Gering High School. The girls game will begin at 5:30 p.m.

Broncos wrap up season at Districts

The Bronco boys’ golf team hosted their own meet on Wednesday, May 11. Out of 31 competitors, Ethan Hardin finished 14th with a 96, combining a 49 and a 47. Kyle Finney finished 21st with a 53 and 50 for a 103. Brady Oltmer finished 23rd with a 52 and 51 for a 103.

Junior High State Track medals won

Mullen eighth graders Tierston Moore and Alex Werner competed in the Junior High State Track Meet in Gothenburg on Saturday, May 14, both placing in the top eight and bringing home hardware. Tierston placed 2nd in the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.80 and 4th in the 200 hurdles with a time of 29.80.

8 Broncos are State Track bound!

Eight Mullen Broncos earned the right to compete at State Track last Thursday, May 12 at the District D-8 track meet in Broken Bow. To do so, they had to place first or second in their individual events or first in a relay.

Broncos bring home more medals

Eleven Mullen Bronco track athletes qualified to compete at the Best in the Midwest meet in Sutherland on Tuesday, May 3, being the top eight of their events. Five Broncos ended up on the medal stand, placing in the top three. Senior Shelby Welsh won the long jump with a PR of 16’8.5”.

Golf team competes at St. Pat’s meet

The Mullen boys golf team competed at the St. Pat’s meet last Thursday, May 5. Ethan Hardin combined a 54 and 51 for a 105. Brady Oltmer had scores of 60 for a 120. Kyle Finney shot a 59 and then a 65 for 124.
