Lady Broncos place 3rd, boys 4th at MNAC Track

The MNAC conference track meet was held in Arnold last Thursday, April 28. Out of 10 teams, the girls placed 3rd and the boys placed 4th. For the girls, senior Shelby Welsh won the long jump with a mark of 16’1”. She also placed second in the 100 with a time of 13.1 and ran the 200 in 28.9.

The Mullen High School Athletic Banquet was held on Monday, May 2 at the Lariat. Following a supper where the Mullen Commercial Club provided meat, potatoes and drinks, and attendees brought salads, vegetables and desserts, season highlights were given by the coaches.

The Bronco boys golf team competed at Garden County last Tuesday, April 26. Ethan Hardin shot a 47 and a 50 for a total of 97. Brady OItmer shot a 58 and a 50 for a 108. Kyle Finney shot a 63 and a 60 for a 123. The MNAC Golf Meet was held in Arnold on Thursday, April 28.

Boys golf team competes at Sandhills/Thedford Invite

The Mullen Bronco boys golf team competed in the Sandhills/Thedford Golf Invite on Thursday, April 21. Ethan Hardin shot a 49 and 52 for a 101 to finish 14th. Kyle Finney shot a 54 and a 53 for a 107 to finish 24th. Brady Oltmer shot a 60 and a 56 for a 116 for 31st.

Broncos have three meet track schedule last week

by Alex Moore, MHS junior The Mullen Bronco high school track teams had three meets last week, which made for a very hectic schedule for Head Coach Jennifer Moore. On Tuesday, April 19, 2 boys and 2 girls qualified for the Track and Field Festival in Papillion.

Athletic Banquet will be May 2

The annual Mullen High School Athletic Banquet will be held Monday, May 2 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lariat Auditorium. The Mullen Commercial Club will furnish the meat and potatoes. Drinks and table service are also provided.

Jessica Stieb, a junior at Loup City, Nebraska, participated in the Nebraska Track & Field Festival on April 19, 2022, at Papillion/LaVista Stadium. Stieb won the shot put with a throw of 41’7” and placed 3rd in the discus with a throw of 130’4”.

Track teams compete in Bertrand

The Mullen Bronco track teams competed at the Jerry Stine Invitational in Bertrand on Thursday, April 14. Both the girls and boys teams placed 3rd out of 11 girls teams and 10 boys teams. For the girls, Peyton Paxton won both the 1600 and the 3200 meter runs with times of 6:00.69 and 13:08.70.

After two weather postponements, the Mullen Bronco track team was finally back in action at the South Loup Bobcat Invitational in Arnold on Monday, April 11. As a team the Lady Broncos placed 5th, while the boys placed 8th out of 15 teams.

Chase Gracey earns All American wrestling honors

MHS sophomore Chase Gracey wrestled in the Midwest Classic Nationals tournament in Kearney earlier this month. He competed in the 15 and under 157 pound division, wrestling 8 matches and placing 4th out of 44 wrestlers to earn All American honors.
