Mullen Marksmen compete in bb gun shoot at Ogallala

The Mullen Marksmen 4-H members competed in the bb gun competition of the Panhandle Best Keith shoot on Sunday, March 6 in Ogallala. Medals were presented to 1st- 6th places overall in each age division, along with 1st place in each position. As a team, the Mullen Marksmen placed 3rd.

Ashton Wright, son of Andy and Mindy (Hampton) Wright has committed to attend Concordia University Nebraska to continue his academic and athletic football career. His grandparents are Don and Teresa Hampton and Kirk and Jodi Jacobs of Mullen and Randy and Kim Wright of Lincoln.

Grady Phipps: 3rd place, scoring 9 team points. Lost 12-8 in overtime to Camren Holbrook (Garden County Youth Wrestling), lost 3-4 to Zander Zeiler (Mitchell Wrestling Club), pinned Giovanni Gamino (Scottsbluff Wrestling Club) in 2:11. Cylas Dent: 1st place, scoring 23 team points.

Broncos qualify for State Basketball

On Tuesday, March 1, the #9 Mullen Broncos drove down to Hershey, Nebraska, to face off against the #8 Potter-Dix Coyotes for the D2-8 District Final game. By the time the first quarter ended, the Broncos had already taken the lead to double digits with a score of 16-2.

Svoboda to play college basketball

MHS senior Taylor Svoboda signed her letter of intent to play basketball for Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, last Thursday, Feb. 24. She is seated with her parents, Clint (MHS Head Girls Basketball Coach) and Barb Svoboda.

Broncos claw their way through subdistricts

The #2 seeded Mullen Broncos won the D2-10 Subdistrict on Thursday, Feb. 24, 2022, when they defeated the #1 seeded Hyannis Longhorns for the Championship. But before they could play Hyannis again, they first had to face off against the #3 seeded Sandhills/Thedford Knights on Tuesday, Feb. 22.

The Mullen youth wrestlers had a busy last week. We took 18 kids to a dual tournament in Atkinson on Saturday, Feb. 26 and 28 kids to Valentine on Sunday, Feb. 27.
