by Shelby Welsh, MHS senior The Lady Broncos lost Tuesday, Jan. 11 against the North Platte St. Pat’s Irish with the score of 23-48. Senior Taylor Svoboda led the ladies with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 2 steals. Shelby Welsh: 5 points, 12 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal.

Wrestling team places 3rd at Ogallala Duals

by Sean Simonson, MHS senior On Saturday, Jan. 10, Mullen traveled to Ogallala to wrestle their first meet back of the new year. The Mullen wrestlers took 3rd place as a team at the dual tournament. In the first dual against Sidney (Class B) Mullen was able to win 60-21.

by Alex Moore, MHS junior On Friday, Jan. 7, the Mullen Bronco boys traveled to Brady to play them in a varsity only matchup. At the end of the first quarter it was a close race with Mullen having the lead 10 to 6 over the Eagles.

by Shelby Welsh, MHS senior The Senior Taylor Svoboda led the ladies with 15 points, 7 steals, 3 assists, 3 rebounds and 1 deflection. Junior Whitney Jennings was also in double digits, scoring 13 points and had 3 steals, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 deflections.

The Lady Broncos were the Cambridge Holiday Tournament Runners-up last week after defeating D2 Dundy County Stratton 52-26 on Tuesday, Dec. 28, and then falling to D2 Crawford 31-48 on Wednesday, Dec. 29.

Mullen Bronco fans got their admission money’s worth last week at the Cambridge Holiday Tournament! The boys won their game against D1 Dundy County Stratton on Tuesday, Dec. 28 by 1 point, 49-48, and then lost to D1 Cambridge the next day in the championship game by 1 point, 44-45.

The Lady Broncos faced D2 Maywood-Hayes Center in the first round of the Paxton Pre-Holiday Tournament on Monday, Dec. 20. The Lady Broncos were unable to upset the undefeated team, falling 41-54.
