Broncos fall in OT in 2nd round

The Mullen Broncos saw their season come to an end in overtime last Friday night, Oct. 29 in the second round of the Class D2 football playoffs. The #6 Mullen Broncos hosted #11 Ansley-Litchfield. “We knew we were going to have a physical football game this week,” Head Coach Wade Marsh said.

The Lady Broncos defeated Cody-Kilgore (3-1) last Monday, Oct. 25 in the first round of subdistrict action in Arthur. They then traveled back to Arthur on Tuesday, Oct. 26 to take on Arthur County in the D2-10 subdistrict final.

What a perfect day to run!! The temperature was just right to run at the NSAA Class D Cross Country meet at the Kearney Country Club on Friday, Oct. 22. The state course is probably the toughest course that competitors run on throughout the season.

The Lady Broncos finished their regular season last week with a 9-20 record. They competed at the Broken Bow Invitational on Tuesday, Oct. 19, playing two C1 schools - losing 0-2 to Doniphan-Trumbull and winning 2-1 against Valentine. Stats were unavailable at press time.

Broncos defeat Loomis in 1st round of playoffs

The Mullen Broncos are moving onto the second round of the Class D2 football playoffs after defeating Loomis 58-12 last Thursday, Oct. 21. “Loomis came out and really played well, stopping our running game,” Head Coach Wade Marsh said.

Youth volleyball results

The Mullen youth volleyball teams competed in Valentine on Sunday, Oct. 24. The 3rd-4th grade team lost against North Central 1, won against Valentine 2, won against Valentine 1, lost against Thedford and won again North Central 2.

John Howell is guest coach for youth football team

The Mullen youth football team had a guest coach last Tuesday, Oct. 12 - John Howell - a 1996 graduate of Mullen High School and past NFL player (six seasons for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, including winning Super Bowl XXXVII). He put the kids through many blocking and tackling drills.
