7-1 Broncos cruise into playoffs

The Mullen Broncos ended their regular season with a 7-1 record last Thursday, Oct. 14 with a 52-14 win at Maxwell.

Mullen youth volleyball season begins

The Mullen youth 5-6 grade volleyball team played in the Burwell tournament on Sunday, Oct. 17. They lost their first game against Burwell, won against Ord, won against Anselmo-Merna and then lost against O’Neill. 3-6 grades will play this Saturday, Oct. 23 in the Valentine Tournament.

On Thursday, Oct. 14, the Mullen Bronco XC team headed to Bridgeport for Districts. The top 15 runners from each district punch a ticket to the NSAA State Cross Country meet at the Kearney Country Club.

Corynn Corbin finishes her second girls golf season

In Alliance at Sky View Golf Course on Sept. 27, Corynn Corbin carded a very nice 118, earning her 10th place in Division II. The tournament was large with a couple strong Class B schools. The tournament was split into two divisions; Class B schools and then Class C & Class D.

Broncos hand Leyton their second loss of the season

The Mullen Broncos traveled to Dalton last Friday, Oct. 8, where they were able to hand Leyton their second loss of the season, defeating them 42-14. “We knew going into this game the district title was on the line for us,” Head Coach Wade Marsh said.

Lady Broncos to play in MNAC this week

Last week the Lady Broncos traveled to Dalton, where they lost 0-3 to Leyton on Friday, Oct. 8. They then competed in the Anselmo-Merna Tournament on Saturday, Oct. 9, losing 1-2 to St. Mary’s, winning 2-0 over Cody-Kilgore and then losing 1-2 to Riverside. Stats were unavailable at press time.

Locals compete in junior high rodeos

Two Mullen students competed in the Nebraska Junior High Rodeo Association rodeos this fall at Lexington, Albion and Thedford - fifth grader Kaisley Phipps and seventh grader Cooper Walker. Cooper got into the top 10 at Thedford, placing 4th in the chute dogging with a time of 8.29.
