What a show October has put on for us in the night sky!First there were the northern lights on Oct. 10. Ironically, it was also the 10th of the month back in May when we were treated to an amazing display of them here in the Nebraska Sandhills.But this time was even better.

Over the past few weeks, I have gotten many calls and emails regarding Medicare Advantage and why Great Plains Health and several other rural hospitals gave notice that they will no longer be accepting those plans as of January 1, 2025.

Dear Dave, I’m getting married next month, and my fiancé and I are both following your plan. I’m on Baby Step 3. I make $65,000 a year and have $14,000 in my emergency fund. My fiancé made $90,000 a year, and he’s on Baby Step 2 paying off his car loan.

For two months now my family has been rocking the look of being covered in construction dust, drywall mud and/or paint.We completely gutted our kitchen (except for the floors) and have been slowly making progress on our biggest do-itourselves project to date.

Last week, the North Platte Area Chamber and Development Corporation held its annual meeting and awards dinner. Congratulations to all the deserving award winners; they all played a role in the continuing economic growth of our area.I was honored to be asked to say a few words at the event.

This week, North Platte Regional Airport (Lee Bird Field) held a groundbreaking for the new Terminal Building. This is a major milestone for North Platte and the entire region. Many years of planning went into the development of the plan and the fundraising to make this project a reality.

Kids grow up in front of your eyes. You blink and they’re walking. Blink again and it’s their first day of kindergarten. Next blink they’re playing their first youth football game. Then they have their first day of middle school.

Dave Says

Dear Dave, I follow your advice and live on a budget, but it’s really hard to save up for a down payment on a house because property is so expensive on the West Coast. My family thinks I should buy a cheaper property back home, fix it up and flip it to get the extra money I need.

I want to start by congratulating the Lincoln County Commissioners and all those who worked tirelessly over the years to plan and ultimately replace the Sutherland Bridge. Keeping our rural communities connected is critically important.
