Technology is great - when it works. I say this at least monthly, if not weekly! It sounds like a great tag line for a tech support business, surly someone has already had the same thought. Like others who spend the majority of their workday in an office chair, 99.

One of my biggest pet peeves is wasting food. I’m not sure when this pet peeve began, but I’m sure working in food service at my college’s cafeteria and then living on my own and having to purchase all of my own food in college is a good bet.

As I write this week’s article, I must begin by expressing my sympathy to those who lost livestock and property in the rash of wildfires over the past week. We are reminded once again of how destructive fires can be and how quickly they can spread when conditions are right.

Dave Says

Dear Dave, I’m getting married this summer and about to become a stepmom. To be honest, I’m a little worried about the family dynamic. My fiancé’s daughter from an earlier marriage seems a bit irresponsible. She’s 23, has trouble holding a job and still lives at home.

Tuesday, Feb. 27, marks Day 34 of the 60-day session, and this will be the last week of committee hearings.

My husband Dane and I are in the thick of teaching our 6 and 10-year-old to be better. Better at reading. Better at spelling. Better at math. Better at dribbling. Better at shooting baskets. Better listeners. Better at talking to adults. Better at calming their nerves.

Tuesday, Feb. 20, marks Day 30 of the 60-day legislative session. So far, the session has been moving along at a good pace, and the demeanor on the legislative floor has been very positive. We have had some robust debate, but bills have been moving along quickly.

Dear Dave, Our 21-year-old son is in college, and we’ve always warned him to stay away from credit cards. Despite our warnings, we recently learned he got a store-branded credit card. The good news is he has stayed under the credit limit.

Much has been written about the Governor’s property tax reduction goals and how changes in sales tax can play a role in funding the cost of the reduction. I would like to review once again how taxes are currently collected in Nebraska and who collects them.

Last month I spoke to a small group of high school students about community involvement and leadership. Another person who was also asked to speak to the group is someone I have known since I was an elementary student and who has been one of my role models ever since high school.
