Our 12-year-old has been pulling the, “I’m not a 40-yearold woman…” line for a few months.Now that I’m actually 40, he won’t get as much guff from me. But less than a week after turning 40, one of his lines became a reality.

Last Friday, the city of Lexington received the devastating news that Tyson Foods, the largest employer in the area, will close its plant on January 20, 2026. When a town of just over 10,000 loses over 3,200 jobs, it is a big deal.

Dear Dave, My girlfriend and I have been dating seriously for a little over a year.We’re both 28, and I know I love her, but there’s something that worries me. She’s very smart, but at the same time, she’s not very responsible with money.

As technology continues to improve, agriculture has been a major beneficiary. Auto steer for row crop equipment, which is made possible with satellite technology, has improved the accuracy of row spacings and the ease of operating for producers.

While working on this week’s Looking Back, I read my column from 10 years ago about turning 30. Now it’s 2025 and the week of my 40th birthday.My 30s were spent growing into the mother I am today, with our daughter being born when I was 31 and our son was 4.
