Mulligan is new Mullen Postmaster

The Mullen Post Office Postmaster job opened up this summer when Cheryl Sheets retired after being at the Mullen office for 13 years. Mullen’s Postmaster is now Judy Mulligan, whose first day in Mullen was Sept. 27. Mulligan is a Dunning native and lives just north of Thedford.

Indian, Greek and salmon cooking class

The public will have the opportunity to learn how to cook Indian, Greek and salmon dishes during a new class offered by the Mid-Plains Community College Valentine Campus. The class will be 6-7:30 p.m. CT Nov. 16 at the campus, 715 E. Highway 20, in Valentine.

Forage Minute: Winter grazing pastures, testing hay

Grazing stockpiled winter range or pastures has several benefits. It is much less costly compared to feeding hay. On native range, there is little risk of damage to the grasses because they are dormant and winter stocking rates can be somewhat higher compared to the summer.
