Hooker County Fair Pig Wrestling results

The popular Pig Wrestling was held Saturday, Aug. 1 during the Hooker County Fair at the Hooker County Fairgrounds. Youth 1. Kids: Eli and Harper Barnes, Tripp and Brogan Jewell - 6.9 seconds 2. Porkers: Jaxson and Harper Barnes, Ryann Walz, Bryndal Greeley - 9 seconds 3.

by Gerri PetersonThe Mid-Nebraska Pedal Pullers were in Mullen with the opportunity for ages 4-12 to compete against each other on Saturday, Aug. 1 during the Hooker County Fair. The top three of each division can go on to compete at the Nebraska State Fair. The competition saw 52 participants.

Even though it has already been in use, a ribbon cutting was held for the Village of Mullen’s Swimming Pool Park pavilion prior to the Water Carnival on Monday, July 27. Book the pavilion by calling the Village of Mullen office - 308-546-2625. Werth wins sewing machine for Top Sewing Construction

submitted by Theresa Thomas, CSA Extension The Hooker County 4-H fashion show and construction judging took place Monday, July 27, with the public fashion show being Tuesday, July 28 prior to the Melodrama.

NRD expansion of irrigated acres

With no significant changes in groundwater levels across the NRD, the Directors voted to allow up to 2,500 new acres to be developed throughout the District for 2027. Each of the five subdistricts has been allotted 500 acres.

Counties designated as natural disaster

This Secretarial natural disaster designation allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans.

Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory open house is Aug. 19

Lincoln - The University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s Gudmundsen Sandhills Laboratory (GSL) will host its annual open house Wednesday, Aug. 19, near Whitman. The event is open to cattle producers and industry professionals interested in the latest beef industry updates and current GSL research.

Corbins and Phillips are Shop Local Poker Run winners
