Memorial board to be dedicated Monday

Memorial Day is an American holiday, originating in the years following the Civil War and was originally known as Decoration Day. It became an official federal holiday in 1971 to commemorate and set time aside to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.

Chris O’Brien wins Forged in Fire

Mullen’s Chris O’Brien was named the History channel’s Forged in Fire Champion last Wednesday on season 8, episode 21.

Mobile food pantry

A drive through mobile food pantry will be in Mullen on Saturday, May 22 from 9-10 a.m. at the Hooker County Fairgrounds. Everyone is welcome - no documentation needed. Call the Mullen Assembly of God at 308-546-2253 with any questions. This event is sponsored by Food Bank for the Heartland.

Karen Juzenas of Creighton spent the weekend with Frank Harding. Right Reverend Bishop Scott Barker visited St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church and conducted a service with Rev. Karen Juzenas on Sunday. Don and Jodi Daily of Kearney spent from Wednesday evening to Saturday morning with Dorothy James.

South Hooker

Steve and Nancy Labbe of Hudson, Colorado, came Thursday to visit Larry and Georgann French. Steve left Sunday and Nancy is spending a few more days here. Leila Hicks and Lois Nordahl were Sunday dinner guests.

South Cherry

The Bob Marshes left Thursday afternoon for Hays, Kansas. They picked up their grandson Tyson Marsh at his home and did some touringaround town and the college that evening. They attended Ty’s graduation from Fort Hays State University Friday morning.
