United Methodist Women hold meeting

The General Unit of the United Methodist Women met in the senior high room of the church on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 21. Five members were present and visitor Leila Hicks. President Sue Bonesteel opened the meeting asking for joys and concerns.

Hooker Motor Club holds first Poker Run

The newly formed Hooker Motor Club held a Poker Run on Saturday, Oct. 17 in Mullen. They drew their first card at the Hooker County Fairgrounds, followed by Mullen Motor, the park downtown next to the bank, the nursing home and then at the fairgrounds again.

Ann Starr wins $5,000 grand prize

The 4th annual Hooker County Community Foundation Raffle was held last Saturday night, Oct. 24 at the Hooker County Community Center. Because of COVID-19, to-go meals were offered this year, which ended up also being convenient for those who didn’t want to be out with a snowstorm coming in.

Last local COVID positive was Oct. 20

Hooker County’s COVID-19 total confirmed case count was 18 as of press time on Tuesday, Oct. 27, with 9 active cases. The last positive was reported on Oct. 20.

Goldie Little will always be the shining face that everyone recognizes even from a mile away. She was born on Nov. 13, 1928, in a tiny house in the middle of nowhere and grew up working hard and learning what it means to work for what she wants.
