United Methodist Women hold meeting

The General Unit of the United Methodist Women met in the senior high room of the church on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 21. Five members were present and visitor Leila Hicks. President Sue Bonesteel opened the meeting asking for joys and concerns.

Hooker Motor Club holds first Poker Run

The newly formed Hooker Motor Club held a Poker Run on Saturday, Oct. 17 in Mullen. They drew their first card at the Hooker County Fairgrounds, followed by Mullen Motor, the park downtown next to the bank, the nursing home and then at the fairgrounds again.

The 4th annual Hooker County Community Foundation Raffle was held last Saturday night, Oct. 24 at the Hooker County Community Center. Because of COVID-19, to-go meals were offered this year, which ended up also being convenient for those who didn’t want to be out with a snowstorm coming in.

When I first got the news that I would be writing a senior citizen article, I thought for a while on who to write it about, then I remembered Mrs. Sullivan my favorite substitute teacher! Sherron was a teacher at Mullen Public Schools.
