Burn ban extended to May 20

Lincoln – Governor Jim Pillen signed an executive order extending a burn ban due to continued dry conditions in the central and western regions of Nebraska. The new order remains in effect until midnight May 20.

11 tornados hit west and north of Hooker County

by Gerri Peterson Last week’s weather created havoc to Hooker County’s neighbors.On Sunday, April 27, 11 tornados were reported beginning in Grant County at 5:38 p.m. until 9:45 p.m. in Cherry County, according to the National Weather Service.

Village nuisance program is back

Free clinics for farmers and ranchers in Valentine

Free clinics for farmers and ranchers and their families are being held on Friday, May 16 in Valentine. They are confidential, one-on-one sessions with an experienced ag law attorney and ag finance counselor. These clinics have been offered in Nebraska since 1989.

Donate blood in Mullen next Wednesday, May 14

Donated blood is a lifesaving gift most healthy people can give. The community is encouraged to donate blood on Wednesday, May 14 from 12-6 p.m. at the Hooker County Community Center to help those who have been seriously injured and need blood products to help them recover.
