Pizza with the Principal is a reward for six Mullen Elementary School students, featuring one student from each grade level. This is the elementary school’s version of Student of the Month. Each grade level will have one award winner each month.

The MHS speech team had their first meet on Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Perkins County’s varsity meet. They had four events competing: serious (Samantha Cheever), humorous (Sydnee Cheever), persuasive (Ashlyn Simonson) and informative (Ashlyn). Ashlyn placed 4th in informative and 9th in persuasive.

Days On Friday, Jan. 26 the 1st and 2nd grade students celebrated their 100th day of school. They rotated through different 100 related stations.

The 2nd graders finished their persuasive writing unit by writing a letter to a parent or teacher. Students got to pick who they wanted to write to and what they wanted to persuade them to do. Some wrote to their parents asking for a sleepover, others wrote to Mrs. Walker or Mr.

Locals named to college honor lists

Chadron - Kyler Horn of Mullen has been named to Chadron State College’s Fall 2023 President’s List. The President’s List consists of students with a 4.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Bronco Brew serves up drinks to students, staff

Mullen’s FCCLA STAR events move onto state!

by Kelli Walz, FCCLA Advisor Mullen FCCLA had a great day at the District 10 STAR Competition. STAR stands for Students Taking Action with Recognition and serves as one of the competitive events in FCCLA. Ten students traveled to Thedford on Jan. 22nd to compete against others from across the area.
