The wrestling team began their three days of competition last week at Brady for a triangular on Thursday, Jan. 14. They had a close dual against Maxwell, losing 38-42.

Fans got their money’s worth last Tuesday, Jan. 12 at North Platte St. Pat’s, with both the girls’ and boys’ games being exciting Bronco wins! The boys trailed 7-13 at the end of the first quarter against the Irish, but led 25-22 at halftime.

The Lady Broncos improved to 10-2 last week, coming off Christmas break with three wins, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On Thursday, Jan. 7 they traveled to Wallace, winning 47-34. Samantha Moore led the team with 17 points, 8 blocks, 7 rebounds, 6 steals, 3 assists and 1 deflection.

The Bronco wrestling team competed at the Ogallala Duals on Saturday, Jan. 9. They placed sixth out of eight teams. The Broncos first defeated Alliance 33-27.

Broncos hand Wallace their first loss of the season

In their first game back after Christmas break, the Mullen Broncos handed the Wallace Wildcats their first loss of the season, defeating them on their home court 50-40 last Thursday, Jan. 7. The Broncos went into halftime with a 26-16 lead.

The Mullen Broncos won the Paxton Holiday Tournament last week, with similar scores for both of their games. On Monday, Dec. 21 they defeated Garden County 67- 35. Scoring over half of their team’s points were Brendon Walker and Trevor Kuncl with 18 points each.

The Lady Broncos competed in the Paxton Holiday Tournament last Monday and Tuesday. On Monday, Dec. 21 they defeated Garden County 52-13 to advance to the championship game. Samantha Moore led the Lady Broncos with 21 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals, 3 deflections and 1 block.

Broncos compete in two quads, win Sutherland Invite

It was incorrectly reported last week that the wrestling team won the Gordon-Rushville Invite on Dec. 12. The Broncos actually placed second in the 16-team tournament with 140.5 points, behind Valentine’s 187.5 points.
