Lady Broncos defeat C2 Bridgeport, improve to 6-1

The Lady Broncos added two more wins to their record last week at home against C2 Bridgeport and D2 Cody-Kilgore. Their game on Tuesday, Dec. 15 against Bridgeport was a close one throughout, but the ladies came out on top, 51-49.

Broncos lose to Bridgeport in OT

Last Tuesday, Dec. 15 against C2 Bridgeport, the Broncos went from a 23-10 first quarter lead to being outscored 9-21 in the fourth quarter to go into overtime. The Broncos fell short in overtime, 2-4, making the final score 55-57.

Last week the Lincoln Journal Star announced the 2020 all-state honorable mention football honorees. Those from Mullen in the Class D2 list were Spencer DeNaeyer, Bryce McIntosh, Clayton Moore, Sean Simonson and Jaden Emerson.

Bronco basketball team goes 2-1 last week

The Mullen Broncos went 2-1 last week, winning 56-36 at Valentine, winning 43-16 at home against Hyannis and then falling 21-42 at Maxwell. On Tuesday, Dec. 8 they traveled to C1 Valentine.

Wrestling team wins Gordon-Rushville Invite

by Gerri Peterson The Bronco wrestling team won the Gordon-Rushville Invite last Saturday, Dec. 12, with three Broncos bringing home individual gold medals. Jeffery Forsen pinned Jarhett Anderson (Hay Springs) in 0:52 and then Ace Hobbs (Mitchell) in 3:28 to win the 106 weight class.

Lady Broncos fall short to C1 Valentine, 28-32

The Lady Broncos also went 2-1 last week, falling short 28-32 at C1 Valentine, defeating D2 Hyannis 85-6 and D1 Maxwell 52-22. On Tuesday, Dec. 8 at Valentine the Broncos had the halftime lead, 20-16, and were still leading 25-21 at the end of the third quarter.

Licking to play volleyball at NPCC

The North Platte Community College volleyball team has announced a new recruit to their 2021 recruiting class. Kylie Licking signed her Letter of Intent Friday, Dec. 11 to play outside hitter for the Knights. Licking played her high school career with Mullen High School in Mullen, Nebraska.

National Finals Breakaway Roping results

Local cowgirls Katie Mundorf of Mullen and Kirby Eppert of Seneca competed in the Inaugural National Finals Breakaway Roping last week at the Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, during the National Finals Rodeo. Both women made some money on the trip in the 10 rounds in 3 days, December 8-10.

Lady Broncos win vs Sutherland, A-M

The Lady Broncos opened their season last week with two wins. On Thursday, Dec. 3 they hosted C2 Sutherland, defeating them 48-23. Senior Samantha Moore led the ladies with 13 points, 5 assists, 3 deflections, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.
