Four Mullen Broncos compete at State Wrestling

by Toni Massey, MHS sophomore Last week four wrestlers from the Mullen Bronco boys wrestling team traveled to Omaha to participate in State Wrestling. Mullen scored 27 points.

Sandhill Defenders battle for 1st & 2nd

by Barb McIntosh Sunday, Feb. 11th was an early morning of volleyball for the Sandhill Defenders, with teams representing at least three states of players with five different age divisions on at least 10 courts at the UNK Vollentine Block Party.

Lady Broncos end season in subdistricts with 7-12 record

by Gerri Peterson The Lady Broncos ended their season last Tuesday, Feb. 13 in subdistricts at Hay Springs, falling short against Crawford, 31-36. Hayley Donohoe led the Broncos with a double-double of 21 points and 15 rebounds, while also having 6 steals.

Boys win last regular season game 39-38

by Kyle Finney, MHS senior The boys basketball team had one game last week. Hay Springs traveled to Mullen on Saturday, Feb. 17. Mullen started out the game with the lead, 12-10, after the first quarter. Hay Springs fought back to take the lead into halftime, 21-25.

Phipps sisters earn bb gun medals

by Gerri Peterson Kaisley and Kendall Phipps competed in bb gun for the Mullen Marksmen in Mitchell on Sunday, Feb. 18, both earning medals. In the 9-10 year old division Kendall placed 3rd out of 18 competitors with a 348. Prone: 94-2 (1st), Standing: 79-1, Sitting: 90-2, Kneeling: 85-0.

Lady Broncos end regular season 6-11

It was a rivalry game worth the admission last Tuesday, Feb. 6 when the Sandhills/ Thedford Knights came to town to play the Lady Broncos. In a back and forth battle the lead of the game flipflopped several times.

Broncos fall short in last week’s games

by Kyle Finney, MHS senior The boys basketball team had two home games last week. The first game was on Tuesday, Feb. 6th against Sandhills/Thedford. Mullen started out the game slow, going into halftime down 9-29. The second half of the game was the same way. Sandhills/Thedford won 20- 51.
