by Gerri Peterson Nebraska High School Rodeo action is back for the spring season. Starting in Hyannis on Saturday, April 29 and Arthur on Sunday, April 30, it was then in Burwell this past weekend, May 6-7. This weekend they will be in Madison.

Last regular season golf meet this week

by Megan Andersen On May 4, the Mullen varsity golf team traveled to the North Platte St. Pat’s Invite. Jacob Walker and Ethan Hardin scored in the nineties with a 92 and 98, respectively. Corbin Kissire and Jarren Forsen both scored a 103, and Kaleb Moore followed close behind with a 106.

Best in the Midwest, Dave Blevins Invite

by Toni Massey, MHS freshman Traveling to Sutherland, the Mullen track girls placed 7th and the boys placed 6th at the Best in the Midwest Track Meet last Tuesday, May 2nd. At this meet, the top eight athletes in each event qualify to compete, with medals being awarded to the top three.

MHS seniors Jeffery Forsen and Isaac Welch were selected by the Nebraska Scholastic Wrestling Coaches Association to compete in this year’s Nebraska All-Star Dual on Saturday, June 10, at 10:00 a.m. MT at Northwest High School in Grand Island.

Track teams place 3rd at MNAC

by Toni Massey, MHS freshman The Mullen track teams attended MNAC track at Arnold last Thursday, April 27. Both teams placed 3rd overall with the boys scoring 64 points and the girls scoring 74. Clayton Moore got first in the 110 m hurdles with a time of 16.

MHS sports teams highlighted at Athletic Banquet

The Mullen High School Athletic Banquet was held on Monday, May 1 at the Lariat. Following a supper where the Mullen Commercial Club provided meat, potatoes and drinks, and attendees brought salads, vegetables and des- season highlights were given by the coaches.

Golf team hosts MNAC, Hardin places 5th at MNAC

by Alex Moore, MHS senior On Thursday, April 27th, the Mullen boys golf team hosted the MNAC tournament. Ethan Hardin scored an 85 to place 5th. Kaleb Moore finished with 100, and Jarren Forsen scored a 106. On Friday, April 28th, Jacob Wingebach competed at the Mullen JV meet and scored a 99.

Seniors selected for All-Star games

MHS seniors Deacon De-Naeyer and Isaac Welch have been chosen to play in All-Star football games this summer. Deacon was selected to play in the 45th West Nebraska All-Star Game in Scottsbluff on June 10. The game will kickoff at 7:00 p.m. at Scottsbluff High School.

On Thursday, April 20, 2023, Mullen attended a track invite in Arnold, which contained 11 teams. The boy’s team placed 4th and the girls placed 9th. Starting with the boy’s results, Clayton Moore placed 1st in the 110 m hurdles with a time of 15.
