On Friday, Jan. 6th, the Mullen boys basketball team matched up against the Brady Eagles at home to start the new year. The Broncos were able to maintain control throughout the entire game to give them a 48-29 win over the Eagles. Clayton Moore: 13 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists.

Lady Broncos win at home, lose at Wallace

The Lady Broncos were victorious in their Friday night, Jan. 6, home game against the Brady Eagles. The game was a nail biter, but in the last three minutes the girls pushed hard to get the win. The girls ended the game 41-30, averaging about 10 points per quarter.

Broncos place 3rd in Paxton Tournament

by Gerri Peterson The Mullen Bronco basketball teams both placed third in the Paxton Holiday Tournament last week. The girls and boys teams both fell to Paxton on Monday, Dec. 19.

Broncos place 4th at Sutherland Invite

by Gerri Peterson The Bronco wrestling team traveling to Sutherland on Saturday, Dec. 17 was one of the few school activities that happened last week. Thanks to a four-day blizzard, the Broncos didn’t have school Tuesday-Friday. The team came home with 4th place out of 29 teams.

Lady Broncos fall to Valentine, Hyannis

The Lady Broncos were defeated 23-46 last Tuesday, Dec. 6 at C1 Valentine before falling 26-34 to Hyannis on Thursday, Dec. 8. At Valentine, Tierston Moore led with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Peyton Paxton: 6 points. Whitney Jennings: 4 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists.

Wrestling team places 3rd at Gordon-Rushville Invite

by Gerri Peterson The Bronco wrestling team competed at the Gordon-Rushville Invite on Saturday, Dec. 10. As a team they placed third with 155 points, behind Gordon-Rushville’s 213 and Lyman, South Dakota’s 179. Four Broncos won their weight classes and another was runner-up.

All-Class football

The Omaha World-Herald recently announced the 2022 Nebraska All-Class football teams. Making the Eight Man-2 Honorable Mention list from Mullen were: Isaac Welch, Deacon DeNaeyer, Eli Paxton, Chase Gracey and Tel Kvanvig.

by Gerri Peterson The Mullen Bronco wrestling team kicked off their season at their own meet, the Mullen Bronco Invite on Saturday, Dec. 3. The Broncos placed 3rd as a team with 141.5 points, behind Anselmo-Merna’s 154 points and Hitchcock County’s 143 points.
