John and Jack Howell became the first father-son duo to earn Mountain West All-Conference honors in league history last week when Jack was named an All-Mountain West Football First Team Defense defensive back. Jack, a sophomore at Colorado State, led all DBs with 108 total tackles and 9.

by Jadyn Andersen, MHS junior Mullen Lady Broncos basketball started their season with a bang Thursday, Dec. 2. The girls fought until the finish, defeating Class C2 Sutherland Sailors 45-27. Broncos took an early lead with 9-2 in the first quarter, maintaining their lead 20-11, 34-22 and 27-45.

The Central Nebraska Volleyball Academy Tournament was held in Kearney on Saturday, Dec. 3, where a team of Mullen and Thedford 6th grade players combined together as a club team called Sandhills Defenders and came home with 1st place.

The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has announced its postseason awards and All-MIAA teams for the 2022 football season. Tell Spies of Mullen, an end for Nebraska Kearney, made the defensive line second team All-MIAA for the second year in a row.
